Windows XP Freezed while Downloading Application from Internet ?

I am using Windows XP professional operating system. I downloaded an anti virus application from the internet and while the downloading was all its way, it hanged making my system freezed. I tried to open the Task Manager to close the application but it did not happen. Ultimately I had to shut down the computer by closing the UPS.

After that when I tried to boot my PC, it was taking large amount of time than usual. Thankfully my system started but when I tried to access the data, I was getting an error message to run the ‘Startup Recovery’. I tried several times to access the data but nothing as such happened and the error messages continued to make things worse for me. Is there any possible solution to this problem that I am facing right now?

Celine 		The MBR or the Master Boot Record might have got damaged when you were downloading the application from the internet. As a result of which the computer hanged. If you have waited for sometime and not opted for the hard shut down then the problem would not have become this much worse. You must be having the Windows XP installation CD with you. Insert that onto your system and then execute the fixmbr command that would check the problems in your system and try to recover the deleted data. Alternatively, you can opt for any good 3rd party Windows XP Data Recovery software that would retrieve all the deleted data using sophisticated programming methods.
