Ubuntu 9.04 fails to boot?

A few hours ago I shifted my system to another room after properly shutting it down, god knows what happened in the mean while, that it’s not booting despite usual working of BIOS which goes till the boot up screen and stand still over the orange bar stopped displaying white-black checkered square.

The problem might be with the connections which can be easily corrected, or problem may be with the X server that provides graphical user interface, check settings of graphic card. But severe problem may be faced if there is some hardware error, for knowing about it check functioning of live CD and if it shows that ubuntu is working, then you can reinstall it and get your data back using backup, and if you don’t have backup you can go for Linux data recovery.
