EDB File Crashes Upon Opening: How to sort this problem out ?

When I am opening a particular EDB file in the MS Exchange Server, the file opens and after few seconds it crashes. I am able to open all the other EDB Files located in the Exchange Server. The problem is with this particular EDB file only. What should I do so that I am able to get access to the contents of this inaccessible EDB File?

The main reason for the crashing of this particular EDB file is that the file has been damaged either by virus attack or any other failure in the database. In order to repair EDB File, you can go through the following operations:

In the Exchange Server; go to Office Buttons > Manage > Compact/Repair.

If the EDB File is able to be repaired using the above command, then it’s fine and good; otherwise you would need to extract the information from the corrupt EDB File. You can do so by the following procedure mentioned below:

• Create a new EDB File in the Exchange Server and then turn off the Name Auto Correct tools
• Try to import the contents from the damaged file to the new EDB file

If doing so causes the damaged file to crash again, then you can try to import the contents without the memo fields. In this way, you can extract all the data from the damaged file without going for EDB Repair.
